Project Grumble Bee
i just bought this sunday and it is going to be alot of work i am looking into a 77 chevy with a 454 as that i am going to big block it. I wanna big block because i have not owned one as to yet and this will not be my daily driver. Thing is this is kinda a bad time to start a project as that i am deploying at the end of the month. The price ($800) was to good to pass up and this is my dream truck i just thought i would never own seeing as non-running they are worth alot. Now the decision is do i leave it with my uncle (Damned good mechanic) and cusin (wyotec paint and body grad) who want to build it for me so that i can drive it when i get back, or leave it with my wife where it will sit in a barn. the only hard thing is that i am a do it yourself kinda guy that way you know it is done right and if not you know how it is jerri rigged.

Congrats on the purchase. When you get back and your Uncle and Cuz have it all built, you can bring it down to one of the get togethers down this way!

Re: Project Grumble Bee
First, THANK YOU for your service!!! My family and I pray at least once daily for all our troops and their families.
I understand wanting to do it yourself, but also think how fun it will be to enjoy it when you get back. There always will be something you can do on the truck or you could always find another beater as a project down the road but be able to drive it complete would be cool. As long as you trust them to do it the way you want, I'd let them have at it.

Re: Project Grumble Bee
I agree about letting your uncle and cousin build it for you. Stay safe over there and thank you for your service. You'll have a great toy to come back to.

Re: Project Grumble Bee
I am still a do-it-yourself kind of person, but I would easily let somebody else do the major work and then enjoy it.

Re: Project Grumble Bee
Agree with everyone else!
1. Thanks for your Service 2. Pray for your safe return 3. Let your Uncle and Cousing rebuild it for you That way it doesn't turn into a "10 year" project and you can enjoy it. If you don't have your Uncle and Cousin do it for you and they really need something to do, let me know, I have a "10 year" project.

Re: Project Grumble Bee
Well i have around a week until i leave. but i have been trying to find a rear hatch it seems no makes them anymore i would buy a whole top if i had. the thing yeah i am stationed in so-cal however when i move home it rains far to much to run with just a soft top. I was wondering if anyone would know where to find a hatch for it or a full top fiberglass repair isnt a big deal. I guess the guy lost this ones while running down the interstate you figure 38" tires and 70 mph hitting the ground there wasnt much left. any clues as where to get one???

Re: Project Grumble Bee
Well here is an update. I got sent home on E-Leave I return to afgenistan on Saturday. While home i hhave bought a parts truck for the Jimmy. The parts truck is a 1995 K3500 with the 7.4 4l80e and i dont know what the transfercase is and a corp 14 rear end. I plan on puttin all of that into the Jimmy. I just need to find a 67-79 ford 3/4 - 1 ton front axle.
