Not something you see every day...

Why is the bottom of the cab red? If there's words on the video, I was unable to listen at the moment.

Re: Not Mine ....79.6 miles on a 70 chevy pu

I don't even have words to describe it. I think I've crapped myself........

do you know if he's got a video of the interior and the engine bay? talk about a survivor. would love to know the back story on it......

Nato, that's factory red oxide primer. more than likely. the entire cab was sprayed with it.

Ten minutes of video and no mentions of how it's equipped, or price. Is there another video with more info?

Re: Not Mine ....79.6 miles on a 70 chevy pu

Tommy Lee,
I'm serious. when you have time, would you please pm me his contact info? I have got to see this truck in person. if nothing else just to take multiple pics to document a proper resto.

thank you so much for bringing this beauty to the forum. amazing, simply amazing.

zoomin,
I think with that truck, if you have to ask the price, it's too expensive. my guess is, if it truly what it is, would be above 50K. you do not find pickups in this condition. they were used. not driven to a shed and locked up.

the options were on the glove box door label or s.p.i.d. you have to pause the video at that point. appears to be a cst with a 350 and an automatic.

So, the guy chains up the spare, removes the battery and the rear bumper, and walks away from it. Simply amazing. It sure appears to be the real deal.

He says he'll entertain offers. I'll entertain asking prices.

That's insane. When I saw the title I thought it was a joke about an ad on CL or something. If it were a short bed it would really pull in some $$$$.

Re: Not Mine ....79.6 miles on a 70 chevy pu

I want, with all my heart to believe this is true! I wonder why the under carriage looks brand new but the motor looks so worn. Also why do the chrome strips on the rockers have corrosion, if the truck was locked up all the time? Honestly, seems a little fishy to me, but if found to be true I would think it would fall under the priceless category!

That would be sweeeeet chopped into a SWB, slammed on bags with 22's, an LS, and the dash cut for a radio.

and there seems to be an oil change sticker on the drivers side door. i'm not sure it is one though. that is not the typical location one would have been placed. also someone might have changed after 50 miles so it doesn't have to mean bs.

Re: Not Mine ....79.6 miles on a 70 chevy pu

The engine, however, is probably toasted. The cylinders that had open valves would have corroded cylinder walls, some valves have been compressed 40 years, while others have not. Cam lobes have flat spots from constant pressure only on one spot, and main bearings could have acid corrosion from blow-by gases combining with moisture in the air. These are the symptoms I found on an engine that the owner stored for 8 years. When I got it, I drained out 5 gallons of oil that was meant to preserve it after a rebuild.
