WTB SWB TBI gas tank

I believe that '87 was the only year with the combo I need. TBI tank from a short bed. I need the sender, pump, and all.
I realize I can buy new, but I'm looking for budget friendly (ie. Cheap!!! )

thanks!

Re: WTB SWB TBI gas tank

Joe, I have one down here you can have. It has been sitting outside, so it may have some crap in it. It was the second in a dual tank setup off of my neighbor's truck. It seems like he said the pump went dead on that side. We shaved the fuel door when we painted it, and his dad wanted it out of his attic. It still has the straps and all.

Re: WTB SWB TBI gas tank

The sender and everything is still there. I would replace the pump, though. I grabbed it thinking I might need it someday, but that someday hasn't shown up yet. I still have a dash bezel for you, too.

Pate swap meet is coming up at the end of the month. Are you coming down for that?

Re: WTB SWB TBI gas tank

Cool deal!
I wasn't planning on coming down in the near future....
I think Tx Firefighter is coming up to the Oklahoma meet in may, I'll see if he would mind grabbing it from you and dropping it off up here.
Let me know if there is anything you need or anything I can do to return the favor.

Re: WTB SWB TBI gas tank

Jonboy,
looks like I'm gonna have some free time to come down to the Pate swap meet. Are you gonna be there? Or do I need to come by where the tank is?
If this weekend doesn't work, we can figure something else out.
Thanks again!!

Re: WTB SWB TBI gas tank

Joe, the parts are in Plano. I don't think I will be able to make it out to Pate, and I am all the way across town. I will PM you my number, so you can give me a call when you get down here.

Re: WTB SWB TBI gas tank

well, looks like I'm still on the hunt. The tank Jon gave me is rusted out pretty bad on the bottom, and the sender is for a driver's side. I might even just run a frame mounted pump for the time being.......any ideas or suggestions are welcome

Re: WTB SWB TBI gas tank

Sorry Joe. I wasn't sure if it was good or not. At least the price was right.

I would look into running a frame mounted pump with the TBI. You only need a steady 13 psi for the TBI, you will probably be fine that way. My truck has an external pump on it, and it seems to work fine. Im not proud of it, but I will probably let it go until it quits.

Re: WTB SWB TBI gas tank

No need to be sorry Jon, the price was great.....and I got to meet several board members (you included). All in all it was a good trip

I'm certainly leaning towards the inline pump....$125 versus close to $500 for an all new stock set-up.
how noisey is your pump?

Re: WTB SWB TBI gas tank

I can hear it a little bit before the engine starts. My exhaust is loud enough it doesn't really matter, though. If you use an insulated mounting that might help.

Joe, If you are still looking for this set up, I just had a 87 short bed with dual tanks roll in. Let me know. Thanks, Ray

Re: WTB SWB TBI gas tank

What kind of money do you need for a complete tank.
Any idea what shipping would be?

Re: WTB SWB TBI gas tank

I would want to get $40 for the complete tank. That includes the brackets, tank, and the sending unit. The shipping will probably be around $40. I have not checked out the condition yet, But most CA tanks are in good shape. I also don't know if the pump works. This truck was gutted of the engine, trans, and tbi wiring harness.

Re: WTB SWB TBI gas tank

Thanks Ray,
that sounds like a good deal, I'm gonna have to
pass at the moment though. I put a pump in my non-EFI tank for now.
