Looks good Freddy, any info on that gas tank? I need to find a tank, maybe a blazer tank for my S10 project..... What straps did you use etc?
Thanks, Ben |

Are you running wheel spacers on the front?

Re: Freddy's '52
Tank is from the '94 Z28 my LT1 came from. I wanted the complete "setup" so I knew fuel pressure would be right. Straps are basic stainless from ACE hardware. A blazer tank would have worked, alot depends on where your bed floor will sit. Here's a couple of pictures of my setup, the neck almost came out to far back to have the neck come out the fender.

Nice work !!
Did you fab the rear shackles or buy them? Hpw much clearence will you have from the frame to the spring eye when the spring is defelected all the way? Those look like I can get my truck 1" lower in the rear by simpley changing out the shackles!!

Re: Freddy's '52
THANKS for ALL the comments guys.
Solidaxle, the shackles are stock S-10 chassis ones. Took the front clip back off and I got my front cowl patch panels placed Saturday now just need to weld them in place. For you guys doing S-swaps save as many of the c-clip nuts & bolts you can I have found they come in real handy putting the AD back together. If you'll notice the RF fender may look a little darker. I took acetone to that one cause I had spraybombed some primer on it, so I plan on doing the rest of truck. Plan to order window/door seal kit this week, got a 20% off discount coupon from Classic industries burning a hole in my pocket. Vacations coming up next week so maybe I can get some good things accomplished this week. Last edited by 1952ssr; 09-20-2010 at 04:36 PM. |

Re: Freddy's '52
Don't get too excited about that, I ordered that kit from them in March and I'm still waiting....

Cool! I would love to know more about your a/c alt brackets.I got my LT1 on the frame today and got it to fire. A Kid standing next to the open manifold jumped a foot I wish I had video.

Re: Freddy's '52
Concerning the tires, check out the tire size calculator at this site. The interface is great. Lots of sites will give measurements, but the overlay picture is a better visual. www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html

I have the factory wiring on it I have the entire cars harness laying on the frame right now, I will narrow it down. I teach Auto Tech class, the students are doing it. I would love to see pictures of your brackets for the AC/ ALT, a picture is worth a thousand words. I had a photo copy of your engine to help me and the students decided were to put the engine on my frame. I love plain and simple I want to do as much with used parts and fabrication as I can Thanks Joe Last edited by RootBeer 6117; 10-08-2010 at 05:32 PM. |

Re: Freddy's '52
Thanks m6z!
No new pictures, just had several nights of frustration.....I have swapped my a/c and alternator from left to right and then back twice. I thought I had everything going, brackets looked good and was hoping to use the stock power steering pump from the 2.8 well IT WOULDN'T fit at all. I could have made it work but, I didn't want my alt. sticking way up from the engine. So now back to using the stock acc. bracket, z28 pump and mounting the a/c on the drivers side. I would have NEVER bought an LT1 if I had known all this. My engine should resemble this shot below. Though my a/c mount isn't by any means that purty, just functional. |

Re: Freddy's '52
Bummer, I was hoping you had come up with a low buck solution for the LT1. All the reading I did said the pulley system was a tight fit in an s 10 frame. The Buick engine I got had a belt drive clutch fan in front of the water pump running off the lower pulley with it's own idler,I took it off thinking it might make it to tight for the radiator. some day I might try to figure out if I can make something work off of that. For now I'm just going to run a bypass pulley and no A/C.
If it was easy every body would be building one Joe Last edited by RootBeer 6117; 10-22-2010 at 07:36 PM. |

Re: Freddy's '52
Here are pictures finally. In the next to last one I did add another tube like a T on the pulley next the power steering. Everything clears although it's close to one waterpump bolt but, we'll roll with it.

Re: Freddy's '52
That is quite a feat of engineering, it gives me an idea for the by pass pulley below the alt. We shall adapt and overcome

Re: Freddy's '52
Nice work. How cool would it be to use it for a template to CNC mill one out of solid aluminum??
