A/F Wideband Oxygen Sensor Location - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

Guys,

I am installing an Autometer Wideband A/F gauge on my truck for tuning purposes and per what I have read it appears that the bosch o2 sensor typically goes in the collector of the headers. I don't want to have to remove the headers,drill,weld,reinstall them for this and am wondering since the collector flange has enough room for the sensor bung, is replaceable, doesn't 'destroy' my headers, etc etc...Is there any reason why someone thinks this would or wouldn't be a smart move? It is only 4" behind where it would go typically, and I don't have to remove anything but a couple clamps to pull out the flange and weld the bung onto it...Thoughts?

It should be fine my o2 sensor is in the down pipe about 3 inches from the exhaust
manifold...

My O2 sensor is about 30" away from the head, down the length of the exhaust. it needs to be closer for forced induction, i think. but my AEM gauge said anywhere from 18" - 36" from the head.

all your sacraficing is the response time of the A/F gauge.

I put mine in the reducer.

That is exactly where I was thinking as well, the reducer. Thanks guys! I hope my neighbors 115v mig will be good enough!
