whats inside the fiberglass?

1972 Blazer with a single wall fiberglass top.
The rear-hatch catches are stripped out on both sides.
What is inside the fiberglass top where the rear hatch latches bolt onto?
Can I re-tap or do I have to add a insert/helicoil?
Other suggestions welcome.
Thanks in advance,
Tbruz

Re: whats inside the fiberglass?

Metal strips with welded on nuts. If you look at my post about whats inside the hatch itself, it looks like that. You could either try to re-tap them or use helicoils.
