AD Fuse Box Location......s10 swappers

Question....
Where are you guys mounting your fuse box? I have a new EZ Wiring kit and hope to start wiring this week. I know some have located the fuse panel in the cab and some in the engine compartment. Any pix, tips, or advice would be appreciated.

Thanks

Brian

Re: AD Fuse Box Location......s10 swappers

I'm using the stock S10 harness and just reworking it, so mine will be a different setup. But I mounted mine right next to the brake booster with the fuses inside the cab, up high and out of sight as much as possible.

Good luck!
Ted.

Re: AD Fuse Box Location......s10 swappers

I'm going to mount mine on a swing down panel for access during wiring but tucked up out of the way on the left side of the steering column. some one else hear attached magnets to the panel and stuck it high up on the firewall. Before I had a mid 80's gm fuse box on a bracket screwed up high on the drivers kick panel. Somewhere I saw one mounted under the seat, I don't know if the ez wire harness dash wires are long enough to do that. They uses a console between the seats to run the dash wires.

Not sure if this helps or if it is even possible, but on Scott's Hotrods they utilized this design and location. I am thinking about doing this myself.

It won't work as an image link, so here is the web link:

Re: AD Fuse Box Location......s10 swappers

I re-used the stock harness. I put it even with the brake booster on the outboard side. At first, I wanted it out of sight, but the farther along I get with this project, the more access I want if something goes wrong; plus a lot less slicing this way. If you use a harness that plugs through the firewall, do a test run on a scrap piece of sheet metal. Get the fit right, and then use the scrap as a template. It's much easier than tearing up you stock firewall. Ask me how I know.

Re: AD Fuse Box Location......s10 swappers

Reusing the stock s10 harness here also, mine was a '85 so it aint much different than buying a painless system. Not all that modern extra stuff to delete. And with the LT1 having a stand-along underhood fuse/relay box it will only be used for lights and other basic stuff. I plan on cutting the firewall from the s10 and then transferring the cut piece into the '52's firewall, in the same general area it was in the s10.

Mine's a 95 s10 harness, so it was mounted in the dash by the door panel originally. I'm either going to mount it on a swing down panel or magnet mount (inside), as mentioned above. Plenty of wire for that with the 95 harness.

In my 50 gmc I put my Ron Francis wiring harness under the seat. It is out of the way and easy to access.

Re: AD Fuse Box Location......s10 swappers

hey guys,
thanks for the info. I know that I will be mounting mine inside the cab. Im thinking the fiewall. I do like the idea of mounting the fuse box under the seat but Im not sure I have enough length to make it to the column. I know that EZ designed this kit to be mounted above the drivers side kick panel. I am going to get my battery mounted this week and then let the wiring fun begin!!!

So much for knowing what I know. After looking at my fuse box and setup, I think Im going to mount the box on the firewall inside the engine bay. I tried to set it up inside the cab but just didnt like how it was panning out. I will post some pix once I get it in.
