Summit Racing
Are their own brand mini starters any good? I've been trying to source one over here with no luck as it seems everyone is out of stock so I may as well bite the bullet and stick an order in direct with summit for a few bits and pieces I need. If their starters are rubbish what about Jegs?

What engine are you putting it on? Is it a SBC? How many tooth flywheel? Another name for a mini-starter is a "Nippon-Denso" style. And the one that comes stock on a '94 'Vette with the LT1 (VIN: P) 350 is that style, so I just order that starter at Advance for about $115 (with a lifetime warranty) and stick it on. Fits most modern 153-tooth flywheel SBCs that came out before the LS engines. If your engine is older with the 168-tooth flywheel, then you can use one of the "hi-perf" starters listed on the NAPA website for your year/make/model engine. The "hi-perf" version is RAY 2441601 from NAPA.
Never used the Summit or Jegs versions because I've always found them locally for much cheaper and it's the same design. Any Nippon-Denso style starter should last a very long time.

I saved a ton and got a mini starter from EMSGLOBALDIRECT off ebay. Check them out. I know 3 people who have bought there and there starters are great.

If you are cranking a lot of HP or static compression I would steer you away from Jegs brand.
They have a lot of good products but even the guys in retail will tell you that they leave something to be desired.
