I've replaced the heater core and I've made sure everything is connected properly (pretty easy, since my truck doesn't have A/C). It seems that with the heater on FULL blast, the truck won't get warm inside...but it also could be the fact that the heaters only outlet is down in the center of the truck, on the firewall.

What temp thermostat do you have? Is it working properly? What temp does your truck run at? That would be the first thing I would check. Also, does the fan blow fairly hard?

HEATER!!! we don't need no #$%$# HEATER, it was 97 and HOT yesterday and it's gonna be 99 and HOTTER today, AC is real nice

I am assuming that you have a heat only model.
Or do you have an a/c model with the a/c removed?

Do you feel heat coming from the heater outlet (center under dash)?
If you do and it doesn't get hot then I would check your seals and windows.

If you do not feel heat:

Do you feel heat coming from the defrost outlets at the windshield?
Does the blower motor (fan) change speeds with the switch?
Can you hear it get louder with the different speeds?
Are you sure that the hoses, intake, water pump, and heater core are not clogged?
The heater and defrost doors are operated by cables (heat only models).
Maybe the cables are not hooked up, not hooked up correctly, or maybe there is something wrong with the doors.

Where do you have the heater hoses hooked to on the engine?

If you start your truck and let it idle for 10 minutes or so you should feel it right away if the heater is on and the fan is working.
The heat comes out of the center and blows towards the sides. The heat works very well in these trucks. I know my heat gets so hot I have to turn it off or roll down the window after just a short drive.

Ok, let me address each thing....
I feel heat coming OUT of that SMALL opening, it's quite hot. BUT...my seals in my truck (weatherstripping and such) are SHOT..and we usually turn the heater on and roll the windows down (cruising around on a cool night) So...it's kinda a mooot point. I guess I'm just use to have direct heat on your legs (how it is in my vette). I thought maybe my heater was supposed to be better..but I guess when you have your windows down and no seals in your truck, it kinda doesn't really do any good

Well I do the same (heat on windows down) in the winter time (it doesnt get very cold here). I can feel the heat on when cruising around. If you do feel heat, but its not hot enough, then thermostat could be the problem. Do you have a 180 or 195 in there?

Also, the motor bearly ever has a chance to really get hot...with the fan running constantly.

I have a 195 thermostat and it runs at 195 most of the time (when its hot, like the las few days), but sometimes gets down to 180 with the fan on.
I keep the fan off most the time, except for in lines and in this heat at stop lights.
Its starting to really get hot here.
I wish I had a nice little daily driver with kick arse a/c.

Changing to a 195 thermostat will increase the heater output.
If you want more heat, thats your solution.

Tim,

I Guarantee when you come in June to Laughlin, you will not need that heater, even at night. Usually around 100 degrees at midnight.

Thats what I was going to say, MOVE to Arizona we don't worry too much about the heater, and A/C is not a luxury it's a necessity

You may not have enough water in it. I've had several cars that lost water (pre-overflow-tank years) & that was the first sign of low water--no heat.
