Road Tripping in the 67 to Good Guys Northwest Nats

So I was out in the truck this afternoon with my son in Langley BC. He's 6 and already getting pretty good at leaning his elbow on the window sill. A year ago he looked up from his booster seat and asked me why the paint was all worn off on the sill of the interior of both doors.

I just looked at him, slid my elbow out the window, resting on the sill, and smiled. He looked up, smiled in understanding, and looked over at his sister with envy as she slid her elbow up onto the sill.

Back to yesterday... He's riding shotgun, happily maintaining the polish on the "paintless" interior sill, and we saw a beautiful blue 5 window 47-53 ( I absolutely love those trucks but can't identify the years) cruising along beside us.

I threw up a wave while my 6 yr old remarked about about how much nicer it was that ours, then pulled up to a light. That's when I noticed the California plate.

Holy.

Last time I drove to California, we made it to Monterrey in about 22 hours, and I was driving a mini van full of bikes. I'd never thought of doing the trip in my 67. For all I knew it could have been towed on a trailer up to the great white north, but knowing the attitude of the guys & girls on this board, I doubt it.

My brain-gears started cranking and I thought about the idea of taking the truck on a relatively short road trip. The destination? Good Guys Northwest in Spokane Washington (middle of August). About 8 hours away.

I've got a great running 67 Shortbox with an inline 250, 5 speed, & stock cooling.

Any good road trip stories, things to remember, or anyone else planning to go?
