Re: finding a diesel

I planned on doing the same thing with the 6.2 detroit. its simple to do i guess... everything transfers over without needing to switch out wiring harness's, The hot wire that goes to the distributor on the gas motor is just instead run to the injection pump on the diesel.

The fuel lines and sending unit in the tank are different as well.

When your finding your motor the best way to tell if its still usable or not is how it starts. Factor gm glowplug controllers are crap, the engine should start with no either, if the motor has been started with either its most likely junk. Either is to explosive and compresses the crappy cheap connecting rods lowering compression in the motor. Once compression is gone the engine wont start without the either.

Thats as far as i made it in my diesel conversion, my donor motor would not start without either but ran awesome once started.
