New to 67-72 trucks!
Hello,
I recently got a 1971 Custom 20 4x4. It has the original 350, 4spd. w/ granny low, and optional Posi-traction. It has 100,000 original miles. It has a considerable amount of rust, but what 39 year old Iowa farm truck doesn't? Anyway, on to my question: This truck still has the original split rim wheels. I am wanting to get rid of these as soon as possible. I want to know if 8 lug wheels off of a '88-98 C/K 2500 will fit on my '71. If not, what wheels would fit that I could get all 4 of them for under $100? Thanks! |

i think they will but not 100 percent sure, find a used tire shop that has a set and borrow there air for a few minutes to find out.

Re: New to 67-72 trucks!
Thanks!
I really hope they do. I know a guy who can find me some mud tires at a good price. If I can get 4 C/K 2500 wheels for around $100, then later get the mud tires for under $100 apiece, I will have my mud truck in no time. Actually, the split rims have really nice snow tires on them. I hope I can put them on the new wheels for a while until I can afford the mud tires. I will post pictures of it when I get some uploaded. |

Early to mid 80's 16" one piece steel wheels are the closest match to the original wheels. They accept period hubcaps and lug nuts, later wheels do not. They are plentiful and found on most 3/4 ton pickups and suburbans of the era.

Welcome to a great forum for truck lover's, go ahead and read over the board rules and if you can drop $25.00 buck off to the webmaster Josh and then you can buy parts off the parts board, and sell them!
Great bunch of guys on here and vendors! Donnie

Re: New to 67-72 trucks!
Welcome!
If your split wheels are like mine, they will be a 16.5 diameter. A lot of the bigger privately owned tire stores have access to OEM steel wheels that were taken off of trucks, and replaced with an upgraded type of wheel. Those types of shops around here deal with people that collect those wheels, and then resell them to people like us or to insurance companies looking for stock wheels. I plan to get a new set for my 68 K20, and was quoted around 40 bucks a wheel for a new or near new 17" OEM steel wheel. Get some pics up of your rig so we can all see!

Re: New to 67-72 trucks!
Thanks, guys!
I was planning on going to the salvage yard on Saturday. I know they have a lot of '88-98 but I don't know if they will have any '73-87. I think the lug pattern is the same, but I don't know about the hub diameter. I will take some pictures of my truck soon (he's rusty but trusty!).
