Side Vent Glass Issues

When I go to open the side vent glass, the glass and latch literally come off in my hand... the entire glass piece with the handle attached to it. (Nearly dropped it on the freeway the first time I tried to use it!!)

So obviously, I need to repair it.

Looking at page 19 of the LMC catalog, and it breaks down every component to the vent windows... but I have no idea what parts I should order.

Can anyone help? Called LMC, but the people who take the orders don't have a clue.

Re: Side Vent Glass Issues

Your local glass shop may be able to repair it. It might be worth a trip to visit them.

I had the same problem, Here'e how you fix it:

You need item No. 3 in the LMC catalog. Part no. 30-5935 rubber wedge strip.
You scrape and clean off the old rubber wedge strip from the window glass. Mine was attached entirely to the glass portion. You then soak the new wedge strip in oil of some type. I used my wife's sewing machine oil. WD-40 would probally work. You carefully wrap the strip around the glass and then slowly insert the window back into the metal strip. Take you time, light taps using a rubber or plastic end mallot helps. Hope this helps.

PS Plan B- or you could apply some black weather strip and shove it back in. It will be tough to disassemble if you ever need to.

Re: Side Vent Glass Issues

I use dishwashing liquid like Joy, Dawn or ect. instead of oil. Oil breaks down certain types of rubber products.
