What did you get done? 4th of July editon
WOW! We had a great 4th of July. I had invited a LOT of people not expecting most of them to show since I was late getting the invites out. Since we had bad weather all week, several peoples original plans got canceled. They decided to come to our place, and the cars kept rolling in.
We had a back yard full all day, enjoying burgers, beer, swimming, and games. As the sun set we moved to the front yard to have a nice cul-de-sac firework show. It was awesome... What did you get done?

Re: What did you get done? 4th of July editon
I had a great 4th of July weekend. I spent the weekend with my family at the beach house near Beufort NC. We took time to relax and have fun swimming with my girls. We took the boat out saturday and cruised around for a couple of hours. The weather was absolutely beautiful. I chose to work on Monday because I got a guaranteed 8 hrs and another day off during the year.

Re: What did you get done? 4th of July editon
I had one of my best weekends ever! Ended up getting the day off Friday and decided at the last minute to go visit my brother (5 hours west). I loaded up the Heap and headed west. I hadn't seen his recently acquired 75 Corvette (350, 4-speed) and figured it was time. The Heap did great out on the road and the 454-700R combo was good for 16.7 MPG (I love cruise control) at 68 mph.
My brother is 15 years older than me and partly responsible for my car addiction. One thing we've never done is be in a car show or cruise-in together, well that's now been marked off our "bucket list". I washed off the bugs and we went to a Friday night cruise-in in Radford Virginia. Saturday morning was a nice 30 minute drive (8 of us in line) to Pulaski Virginia. The morning temps were in the high 50's, not a cloud in the sky, which made the 55 mph cruise a nice mini Power Tour. The car show in Pulaski was a lot of fun, there's nothing like small town America! Saturday night we again parked next to each other for the weekly cruise-in at The Super K-Mart. More fun and more bench racing! At 4:30 AM Sunday morning I was on the way back home. I pulled into my driveway at 9:30, gave the Heap a quick bath and drove to a local show from 10:00-3:00. The local show had 115 cars/trucks/motorcycles and I picked up a "Top 40" award. For me the time spent with my brother made this past weekend absolutely perfect!

Nothing truck related going on. I've been full tilt lazy as of late.

Re: What did you get done? 4th of July editon
Saturday got a chance to switch out the door hinges on my 82' and put my new engine stand together with the help of one of my best buds. Just too f'ing hot outside to do anything else. Good thing we had some cold beers!!!!!!!! Sunday took the wife and girls to my parents house for a barbecue. My old man and his best friend cooked up a whole pig in a pit dug in the backyard. I haven't had pulled pork that good since I graduated college in eastern North Carolina..........................

Re: What did you get done? 4th of July editon
woke up at 5:30 Saturday and headed 45 min west to my parents place and proceeded to cut a hole in the floor of my 79 to make room for the standard tranny, traded crossmembers to mount the new setup and then dropped the 350 and standard in the hole, hooked up the drive shaft, placed the cover over the hole I made ate dinner and went home. Today I went back and didn't get too much done, traded my wheels out for some ralleys pulled an hei distributor out of another motor , tore apart my 350 tranny for the blue 83

Re: What did you get done? 4th of July editon
Saturday, I learned I would starve to death as a plumber. Had rework my input lines to my pressure tank as they froze last winter and cracked. We're in the middle of a DIY remodel, and due to work, hadn't done anything to the house since January.
But, I get one day a week to work on 'fun' projects. So, I swapped out some parts off the parts suburban and got the new padding under the carpet installed. Sunday I ran the grill at my folks place and kicked back on there patio and watched the fireworks. Great weekend, all things considered. |

Me and my youngest two cruised over to mom&and dads house for a big bbq. Wife and my oldest came later. Had a lot of fire works that let me know I'm not as fast on my feet as I used to be! LoL

Re: What did you get done? 4th of July editon
Did a bunch of yard work then took a couple hours off and cut my square body K10 frame into eight pieces and welded it back together using only six pieces in a different configuration.
The under cab hump is now 10" further back to clear the 67 cab better and allow it to sit as low as the bed will. The back of the cab can now sit 2" lower than it could before. It is also now the correct wheel base too as I pulled 4" out of the length. All that is left now is to get it into my driveway, level it all out and build the cab mount brackets to fit the cab where I want it. First pic is 67 body on unmodified square body K10 frame and second is with the modified and shortened frame.

Re: What did you get done? 4th of July editon
Went & bought a Burb tank Friday night, but it wound up being too big. Also picked up an A/C rebuild kit for my '97 GMC. I can't recall what I did Saturday, but I know it was work. Sunday we did some yardwork before the get together at our house. Good gathering Sunday night, nice fireworks. Slight slowdown when some kids sped down my street. I yelled at them, they turned around and sped up in my direction (I was in the street). As I stepped out of the way I smacked the kid's side mirror, it shattered. Him & his friend stepped out thinking they were going to be tough guys, the wind left their sails real quick when they actually saw me & my buddy. Waited around for the cops (4 cars showed, can't say BAPD doesn't respond). Dealt with that for about an hour, including two of the cops trying to get me to argue with them. Got all that cleared out & back to fireworks. Overall a good weekend.
