New one in the family!!
My nephew loved my truck so much he has been wanting one too. He is turning 14 in a couple of weeks. My brother wanted to get him one but just doesn't know these trucks as well as myself so he asked me to start lookin for a decent one. Here was my find on Houston CL, the truck was about 30 miles away. It was a one owner, all original, almost NO rust at all (a little on the pass door), A/C, tilt, custom deluxe 72 longbed. NICE! When we got to the truck it took maybe 30 seconds to say "this is it". It was in a barn for years before they decided to sell. $4100 and we loaded it on the trailer! Got it back to the shop and took off the dealer installed running boards and I started buffing out the dead paint, last pic shows the outcome. Here's the pics!!

Re: New one in the family!!
I am buffing the whole truck, repainting the rims, cleaning and re-painting the trim, detailing under the hood and some of the chassis for him for his birthday present.

Re: New one in the family!!
He is young but want's to keep it original as possible and drive it!! Made me proud! The running boards are already off and hubcaps will be replaced with dogdish caps. So he is on the right track. I will have him sign on here as soon as possible!

Re: New one in the family!!
Thanks everyone! He is stoked! I'll snap some more pics today including the SPID and show progress pics maybe in the builds section. I think I am as excited as him. From the time we picked it up and got it to the shop we had 3 people comment on the truck and several others wave and thumbs up. Today I will be finishing the buffing and maybe start detailing under the hood. I'll have it for a week getting it looking good for him and we are taking it to the car show next Saturday where everyone can appreciate it. He'll be on cloud nine having a vehicle in the show at 14 years old!

Re: New one in the family!!
Alrighty then. tcb1 was correct, it does have the Highlander option! The plaid seats, the parchment interior and the fish eye mirrors on the regular mirrors are a dead giveaway. The special promo is on the spid too. I finished buffing everything but the tailgate and cowl, and bleached the white top, but it is lookin good, even though it was overcast, it still shines great. Also found some nice beauty rings and original 72 hubcaps (not pictured). Gotta move this one to the Builds!

Re: New one in the family!!
I think I am more excited than him! Even though the hubcaps are butt-ugly, they are the Highlander option originals se we'll store em'. The rings and dogdishes will look better.

Yep, gonna clean it really good and spray the inners and core support. Also planning on cleaning and waxing the firewall the best I can. The air cleaner is gonna get some paint then all the original stickers are going back on it. I am going to get him on here asap, cause he is really stoked about the project!

Re: New one in the family!!
I was worried for most of this thread that you were going to scrap the caps, as they are the correct highlander caps and are sorta hard to come up with. Nice find and is going to be a great first truck.

Re: New one in the family!!
I was not sure they were stock but did the research, and it payed off. This truck is so original and clean that my brother and his son have decided (with alot of input from me) that this is not the vehicle to drive to highschool. Thank God!!! The kids there are idiots and would tear it up. He is going to buy him a clunker and keep the truck at home.
