chevy 468ci gone bad. get it rebuilt or buy a crate engine

compression test confirmed my fears. cylinders 1,2,3,4,6,8 about 178-182 psi. cylinder #5 130psi. cylinder #7 90psi. I noticed a haze of oil or like a gas residue in the coolant the other day. any one know of a good engine builder?

first you have cooling system problems, now you have low compression in two adjacent cylinders.
You have a blown head gasket.
That is not too hard to fix, pull the left head, sand the block, plane the head, reassembly with Fel-pros best gasket.
That's exactly what I have been doing today on my small block 400.

I'm with Justplainray in that I would get that head off and see what went wrong. Most likely as he said, a blown head gasket.

Have the head checked out and surfaced and it should be fine when it goes back together.

I would probably want to pull both heads and put a set of matching head gaskets back on it when I put it back together.

I'm pulling both heads, do it once, do it right.
damn it was hot this past weekend.
but this week's much cooler.
