Re: 3r!c84 build
yup. in two places. in the plug on the top drivers side for the converter lock up leaks out. and the pan gasket has a small leak.
im not running my converter lock up. so the plug is un pluged. but its leaking from there. im going to try to sylicon it up maybe that will work? any ideas

Re: 3r!c84 build
are pan bolts torqued correctly too tight will warp the pan/gasket, and cause leaking issues.
Make sure that were the bolts go through the pan that the surface is flat and not dished. Also make sure that the pan rails are flat as well I don't care for cork/cork composite/rubber pan gaskets. I do prefer the Accopac or Farpak gaskets. They don't leak if properly installed (dry or a LIGHT coat of trans assembly gel on them) and the pan bolts are torqued correctly (usually about 95 in/lbs). |

Re: 3r!c84 build
rtv will help squish the gasket out the sides.... I would use it dry.

Re: 3r!c84 build
you sure it's the pan gasket. you positive it's the pan gasket? The O ring on the dipstick tube can leak and fluid will run down onto the pan and then drip off. It's a pretty common thing for the O ring to get old, brittle and cracked and start to leak.
I read some where RTV and trans fluid don't do well together, Check the RTV that you used to make sure that it is compatible with transmission fluid. it used to be stated that NO sealant at all was to be used on the transmission pan gasket but I don't know if this is still correct. Also the silicone allows the the gasket to be "slippery" enough to move when over torqued. Last edited by nbpro; 01-21-2011 at 11:15 AM. |

Re: 3r!c84 build
took the truck to work. got it up on the lift. changed the oil. full syn oil now. 10w30. got the tire fixed it was full of fix a flat. (what a mess) put bead sealer on the bead it sealed up good. the wheel bearing is a little loose. not a big deal prob just needs to be adjusted. think its time for a new battery too. tested it. its only at 485cc amps. its a 750cc rated batt. its been hard to start after running and shut off.
