Water Temp Sender
I had to switch from a 305 V6 to a small block in my 63 GMC and need a new water temp sender for it. I know I need one for a gauge but do I need to find an exact replacemt or can I use another sender from a different year? Will the sender from the V6 work in the V8? I would think so but I thought I should ask first.

Re: Water Temp Sender
There is no reason it wont work. You will just have to find a threaded location and you may need to adapt up or down depending on the pipe thread size. The adaptors are available at any hardware store.

Re: Water Temp Sender
Creep,
GM has used two different temperature senders. The ones for our trucks (usually 1/2" pipe threads) have lower resistance than the later model senders (usually 3/8" pipe or metric). I have tried mightly to get the late model sender to work with our gages but I have not succeeded yet, and it is beginning to get out of hand. That is the last original gage I have not gotten to work with my LS2 swap. TR
