Converting V6 to V8 engine mount question
I am swapping out a V6 for a V8 in my 1987 R10. I knew the mounts are different so I went to a you pull it and found a 86 that had the 8 cyl brackets. It had a utilty body so I am assuming it was at least a 3/4 ton truck. Came home and the brackets are not even close to matching up to the holes in the frame.
My questions: 1- Is there a difference between 1/2 ton and 3/4 ton engine brakets? 2- Is there mounting holes in the frame for a 8 cyl or do I have to drill 3- Is there a difference between 4x4 and 2x4 brakets? (the brakets in question are the ones that mount to the frame and cross member) What am I doing wrong ! Please help!!!

Re: Converting V6 to V8 engine mount question
Since I have not gotten much support I sat down at the junk yard and compaired several square bodies. My 87 had a 1 3/8 top flange of the frame and a 2 1/2 bottom flange of the the frame. The engine mounts center line to centerline was 17 1/2"
Looked at a 86 C10 Truck Top flange of frame was 1 1/4" bottom of flange was 2 1/4" and centerline to centerline was 16" Looked at a 87 Suburban Top flange of frame was 1 3/8" bottom of flange was 2 1/2" and centerline to centerline was 17" So to answer many people no these frames are not all the same. Hopefully if anyone searches they will find this thread and shed some light.
