71 or 72 rear end code?

i just bought me a 5 lug 71 or 72 rear today for 125.00

just want to make sure it is a 3.08 gear ratio. i have a 3.73 6 lug in it now and i wanted to get better milage down the interstate.

here is the numbers i got off the axle tube.

TRR W047 1

i dunno if it is a 71 or 72 rear. the truck i got it out of was a 402 auto truck, according to the glovebox. it was hugger orange and white with parchment interior. all the interior was gone but the front fenders and bed looked pretty good and was an air cab.

the guy pulled the cover and let me take a peek inside before i bought it and it shows no signs of wear and the gasket looked to have been changed at one point in its life. well any way the guy at the salvage said that it was a 3.08 i just wanna make sure.

also he let me have all the drums and brakes off of it,which were brand spanking new, complete with new wheel cylinders

another good thing is my speedo will be correct again

from underneath looking toward the rear of the truck.

the numbers are on the cab side of the rear end.

the numbers are gonna be almost hard to see with out taking a wire prush to that area,as they were just stamped in with a hammer and stamp set.

Its on the passenger side of the truck between the diff and the ubolt on the tube. Mine faces toward you if you are laying in front of the rear pass tire looking back. These letters arenet much bigger than the letters that we are writing here. I had to take a wire brush to mine to find them
