Dually to 4x4

I have a straight '85 single cab dually that I want to convert to 4x4. I understand that the hump in the floor is different in 4x4's. How much body lift would I have to add to clear the tranny/transfer case? Thanks in advance for helping!

Re: Dually to 4x4

Is your truck stick or auto??

I'm doing the same swap to my crew. I got a 400 tranny mocked up in there now, and I think that the t-case will clear the floor boards. My tranny is 2wd, and don't have a t-case yet, but looks like it might clear. 1 ton frames are 2" taller than 1/2 and 3/4, so maybe that will make up any differences in frame height.

Normally I think 3" is sufficient....

Re: Dually to 4x4

Mine is an auto. If I do this, I'll strip the TBI out of my '95 and use it along with the computer to control the engine and a 4L80E. I have an NP-205 T-case that'll mate to the 4L80E, looking to build something as bulletproof as possible.
Sounds like the body lift will be minimal which is what I want, this thing has to be worked out of and I don't want to have to use a ladder to grab something out of the bed.

Re: Dually to 4x4

Make sure you put VSS on the 205 or the tranny won't shift. Jags that run sells conversion stuff reasonable.
