It was basically a 1968 color combo that was available on Custom's or CST's trim levels only. So actually many thousands were made and they are not as rare as some think.

CST, Custom and or Bucket Seats was the required option for a 50th Anniversary Truck, Fleetside models also required body side molding.
this is from the 1968 CHEVROLET PRICE & FACTS BOOK.
One of my 50th trucks is a non CST or Custom, it has metal door panels painted gold with gold 67 style arm rest, but It has factory buckets so its a 50th.
Chevy Van's, Panel's & Suburban's all Light Duty Trucks could have the 50th option
