It was easy to assemble, everything is marked and numbered. If you do it yourself I suggest having about 3 people help you. We got all the red iron up in one weekend and then you can do the sides in a weekend. It will take a weekend to put the roof on and then another weekend to do the trim and gutters. I ended up letting my brother and ones of his buddies that was out of work do the front, roof, gutters and trim.

I have never messed with one of these before this one, so no I don't do construction... heck I work behind a desk. And yes I do love to grill.

No inspections, I live outside the city limits so we don't have to worry about that.

Re: My New Shop

I checked with everyone on the web I think that sells metal buildings. I know I got prices from 10 different companies and SteelCo gave me the best price by far. My buddy has 2 of their buildings, a 50x100 I think and a 40x60 and he loves them. They are really built by Nucor buildings and have a warranty.

I have one and over here in WA they count as a temporary building and you do not need any inspections.

Re: My New Shop

Best move you made was avoiding UNITED STEEL BUILDINGS nothing but theiving ******* well you get the point. Basicaly you send them money they send you set of plans to mark up. you send plans they say to start building. After while you try to check they say oh you never sent permision to start or well materail went up. Then they need more to start fabrication(aboiut 1/2 the total cost now). If your as stupid as me and have paid them the half they then tell you they need payment infull to ship .If you offer to hand deliver the studdering starts and oh they ship from differant location
Basically it a 17,500.00 lesson and by the way in Florida noone will even try to help you do anything about, legal system anywise.Yea other ideas have come to mind.
By the way they are still in bussiness under new name I will post a warning thread as soon as I get it.
Your bulding looks great and sorry not trying to hijack your thread just felt need to warn others.

Re: My New Shop

I think if they screwed me out of that much money...they'd probably have a flaming car filled with things that go boom come barrelling through the main floor of their corp. offices.

then I'd wake up from my drunk.....and decide what I was going to do about it.

They called me back the other day wanting to know if I had ever decided on what building I was going with. It was some foreign dude that I could barley understand (you know the ones that run gas stations and hotels) and I told him I bought a building nearly a year ago and their prices were way to high. maybe he won't call back.

I cannot say enough good things about SteelCo. They gave me the best price by far and the customer service was great. I would not think twice about buying another building from them.

Re: My New Shop

Sorry to bring up an somewhat old thread, but this is exactly what I was looking for. I really want to build a shop about this size in the next year or so. I appreciate you giving the costs too, that was a big help!
