Lowering 70 C10 long bed ?
If I want to lower my 70 3" in front and 5" in rear, can I get away with just doing springs and shocks or do I need anything else. Thought I read somewhere if you go 5 or more you needed something else. Forgot what it was. Any help would be appreciated. Here is a picture of what Im working with. It is sitting with a 2" drop in the rear now to make it level. Thanks again for any input.

Re: Lowering 70 C10 long bed ?
I would recomend a bolt in c-notch and adjustable pan hard bar in the rear, to go with springs.
Up front I would use spindles and springs, makes for a better alignment. New shocks all the way around. I run a similar set up on my 72 blazer just only 6 front and 7 rear, and I am vary happy with the way it rides and handles. Posted via Mobile Device

Re: Lowering 70 C10 long bed ?
A bolt in c-notch will NOT be required for a 5" drop.
3/5" drop: 3" front drop springs 5" drop springs Lowered Shocks Shock Relocators Super Trac Bar (AKA adjustable panhard bar) That is all you will need, guaranteed! Check out Early Classic Enterprises (earlyclassics.com), their kits will include everything you will need.

Re: Lowering 70 C10 long bed ?
Your right, not required. I never said they were required. I said recomend, with a bolt in notch you can regain some of the lost suspension travel. Therefore allowing the truck to still be used as a truck.

Re: Lowering 70 C10 long bed ?
you can go w/o a notch with a 6" drop in the rear, but it will only leave you with about 1.5 inches of travel between the frame and the axle housing. i am currently running 4" drop springs, adjustable pan bar, shock relocators, new shocks and 2" blocks that i made from square tubing on the rear. In the front 2" drop springs, 3" drop spindles, and new shocks. hasnt bottomed out yet but i drive it slow and easy on rough roads.
