69 Blazer- No Start

Guys,

Fighting a no start condition on my 69 K5. It is a 350. Original problem was not being able to start the truck. Everything on this truck is ancient, so I haven't had a problem replacing the battery, alternator, and starter in an attempt to fix it. (Distributor is only a few months old)

Replacing the battery and alternator still did not get it to start (both were bad anyway). I wouldn't even hear the starter solenoid click. After changing the starter, I did get the K5 to start immediately, and multiple times (last night). However, this morning, I tried to start it again, and it turned over. However, trying again, all I get now is the solenoid clicking. It almost feels like it isn't getting juice. Is this now a wiring problem since I have eliminated several of the other variables? Battery cable maybe?

Check your cables and grounds.

I agree check you stater and battery cables. If they are corded enough they will cause extra resistance and you will not get enough juice to the stater. After that i would look for a battery drain on the system if that doesn't fix the problem if you check the battery and it isn't staying charged

Re: 69 Blazer- No Start

Sounds like the first day it ran on the battery. That means either the alt is not charging, the voltage regulator is not closing the field circuit or the voltage(charge) can't get to the battery....because of the regulator, corroded cables or bad contact at the battery terminal. You need a simple multimeter to check the alternator output at the Alt and the Batt.
(you'll need to get it started to check it this way)

Re: 69 Blazer- No Start

I had a simular problem with mine when I got it. Turned out to be a draw from the voltage regulator. I changed it out and have not had a problem since. I used a multimeter to find the draw.
