The tilt column has a totally different shaft than the standard non-tilt, you'll need to change out the entire shaft, it should fit in the same basic way at the standard column, and all the bolts and such should line up. If you can, take some pictures of your problem spot, then email them to me, I can post them here, or maybe help you myself.
