Here's an aftermarket piece that the original owner must have put on. My brother had a push bar like you see on cop cars on his '68.

Actually the brush guard Shaky has on his truck is a factory GM piece that could be ordered through the Chevy Accessory catalog and dealer installed or installed by the owner. Here is a popular aftermarket brush guard from the same era.

Check out board member "bignbad". His truck avatar has what I believe you are talking about. I also have one but yet to be installed. I can grab a picture of it for you if that would help.

Re: Pushbars or brush guards for 67-72 trucks?

I gave the guy $30. He did not have any hardware, just the pushbar. But a quick run to Tractor Supply for some Grade 8 bolts and we're good to go, as soon as I repaint it.

Re: Pushbars or brush guards for 67-72 trucks?

I have one that is a centered bar(two) that has two uprights and then 2 3"tubes that go across (that you'd mount lights on)
it's for a 73-87
will it bolt onto a 67-72
I'm guess'n not.. but if the frame rails are the same width. it woek wit some fab'n..
anyone have any idea..
my 88 ford looked killer with it.
the first post with pic is the same bar thats on a wrecker a mile from me

Re: Pushbars or brush guards for 67-72 trucks?

i have one of the factory ones on my 72, i never knew they were factory pieces. i assumed that they were local like many rear bumpers that had the dealers name and city/state stamped in them, as they were very common in the late 60's to mid seventies.

I'd love to get my hands on one of tho's guards! But i'd settle for a side shot of one if possible that shows the mount tab detail. I'd like to make something like it for my spare tire carrier.

Re: Pushbars or brush guards for 67-72 trucks?

The one on the blue truck has a special oval looking tab that fits the contour of the bumper.I never saw one like it with the sides so high (I planned to cut them down and round off) and the 2 1/2" cross tubes.I made one for a truck once using 3/8" plate and 2 1/2" tube.I put a tube at the bottonm, too, because when you mount hooks on there and use them it pulls the sides in.The one on my old Blazer had 1/4" flat stock for mounting tabs.
