Q-jet rebuild and Ruggles book
I know that the pros and cons of various carbs have been debated at length here, and that each of us have our own reasons for going the way we do. Having said that, I THINK I've decided to stay with my Q-jet, and get Cliff Ruggles book and kit for the rebuild, and send him my throttle plate for the busshing refit. My question is, have any of you used his book to rebuild your own q-jet? What did you like/dislike about the book and / or process? Is his book any better than the factory overhaul manual (which I have)?
Any other advice you might offer would be great.....like, should I have my head examined for even thinking about it?! Thanks all. |

Re: Q-jet rebuild and Ruggles book
I used Cliff's book to modify my qjet after upgrading the cam. Lots of good performance modification tips and tips to improve the idle circuit. You really do need to carefully read the book as some of the instructions can be confusing. My end result was good. I greatly improved the idle and transitions from the idle circuit to primary circuit and secondary circuit. Way different from working on a holley and think the book is worth it if you need to perform modifications. I would not buy it if I was only doing a rebuild.

Re: Q-jet rebuild and Ruggles book
Bought the book and read though it. Talked to 'Deb' (in the office at Cliff's)yesterday and told her I would email my info up but got busy last night. Woke to an email from her checking I had the correct email address's etc. Emailed Cliff this morning explaining what I was doing/wanting. Got a great email back two hours later! Pretty happy with the service so far!

I also like Bruce Roe's book Amazon.com: Rochester Carburetors...
Between both books, they cover everything!
