AM/FM Truck Radio
This is the BEST one of these I have ever had and I have owned a bunch. This is out of my personal stash. The chrome is Great and would probably be better if polished also has both A/M and F/M decals and complete knobs and cups even the bracket on back. It did play great when removed. $350.00 shipped to the lower 48 First I WILL TAKE IT GETS IT !!!!! Thanks

Re: AM/FM Truck Radio
Looks like it was worked out 6 months ago to me. I don't believe it's Tim's to sell at this point.

Re: AM/FM Truck Radio
This is interesting. I can see both sides, but it's the time factor that's the real sticking point. Good lesson, though. The next time I buy anything electronic that's 40+ years old, I'll find a way to test it right away. By the way, where's the knobs?

Re: AM/FM Truck Radio
I read the whole thread before commenting and don't see what is to be worked out. Tim Christian sold an excellent condition (cosmetic) working radio 6 months ago. I spoke with Tim about this and he had tested it. Now it's fried 6 months later? Just because an original 402 runs well with no issues when sold doesn't mean it might not spin a bearing or a wipe a cam 6 months later. A lot can happen in 6 months and this wasn't a freshly reconditioned radio. Had it been that I can see where am issue would need dealt with. I also know the radio would have cost more. I've seen non-working am/fms sell for this price. The factor of how it was handled in the hands of the buyer over 6 months needs to be considered.
I think this should be handled as suggested on 4/19 post #6. But,since it hasn't,that's my 2 cents.

Re: AM/FM Truck Radio
1st...I appreciate this hasn't turned into a bash fest which is refreshing.
I had one experience like this. I bought a starter from WES at Classic Heartbeat a number of years ago and when I received the starter it sat in the box unopened for several months. Once I opened it one I was shocked to see that one of the mounting tabs was broken off. What did I do...I bit the bullet because it wasn't WES's fault and to go back on the shipping company would have been a waste. So what I learned is when you buy something either use it, test it, or check it out for its condition.Best of luck with a proper resolution.

Re: AM/FM Truck Radio
I do hope this ends or is resolved to everyone's satisfaction but with that I would add the 6 months time frame, the before and after pictures and working with 40 year old parts all has a bearing on this. Best of luck with this situation.

Re: AM/FM Truck Radio
Have you tried another radio like an am stock unit to see if your connections are good.? TIM mentioned a burning smell though and that can't be good in any electronic device.Tim has always been honest with me and other people I know and don't believe he would intentionally mislead anyone.
Tim if its yours and you are going to sell it as a core, I would be interested in it. Depends on the price of corse. Hope that the issues don't leave bad feelings. Posted via Mobile Device

Re: AM/FM Truck Radio
But he trusted me!!!!!!! Below is his last pm and my reply!
67-72trucks said: You dont need to send me any more pictures. Your going to have to go to usps and get a insurance claim on the radio and get a refund. I need a refund back asap $325.00..I payed for the shipping and insurance. Please send me a private msg back..Not on the post.. I said: Ok Mike, I really want to work with you on this but you have to understand my side also. First off I am not going to argue the working/not working part of the radio with you. Second the knobs and cups go with the radio they are not a $25.00 credit item. Thrid the push button is broke in two pices and it was not like that when you received it. So the First step would be to file a insurance claim with the post office as you stated you have it insured for $400.00 You get that started and we will go from there. I work from Monday to Friday from 7am to 5pm and the post office is closed so I will see this evening if the wife can take it tomorrow. I will not issue a refund untill I hear something from the insurance PERIOD! I do not feel that I am asking for to much. Thanks Tim |
