Tailgate question...

I just brought home this 72 Custom Deluxe and noticed that the tailgate has not embossed letters spelling Chevrolet. Is this aftermarket tailgate? Is there a piece of trim missing? I'm confused.

Re: Tailgate question...

Probably aftermarket and missing trim. Possible the letters and trim holes were filled.

Re: Tailgate question...

I've seen a few tailgates with some sheet metal surgery to create a "slick" tailgate. Also, the observation about filling in letter/trim holes is a fairly common occurence.

For the first time in forever, not a single 67-72 Chevy truck, Blazer, or Suburban on the property! Basically retired and getting the new Motorhome ready for some traveling. Doing a bit of work on the house getting it ready to sell! LOL!!

Re: Tailgate question...

I looked at that truck last week, seemed like a decent buy being a Highlander, and having a rebuilt enginre and trans. Pretty sure the tailgate is aftermarket, and not a filled original.
