SBC to BBC clutch differences? Z-bar??

I'm thinking of going from small block to big block in my 4 speed 1 ton. Are there any differences in the engine pivot ball, Z-bar or other clutch related parts? Thanks.

Joshua

Re: SBC to BBC clutch differences? Z-bar??

My '71 C-10 came with a 350 and granny type 4 speed. When we put the '73 454 in it I bought a pivot ball for it from Napa/Auto Tire and Parts #65-1197 for a little over $10. The one for the 454 screws in the block.

We used the rest of the clutch linkage stuff from the 350 set-up. I have heard some have had to shorten the Z-bar, but in my case we did not.

You can use most of the small block parts if you use the small block motor mounts and stands. If you use big block mounts and stands you need the bracket for the z-bar, the z-bar and the pushrod through the firewall.
