Which Parts Vendor to Buy Parts From?

I'm just getting started with my 1950 3100 truck.

Parts I want to buy right away are:

Rear leaf spring shackle assemblies, door hinge repair kit (pins and bushing), and carb rebuild kit.

I was thinking LMC truck, but have read a couple bad reviews of various parts from them. Particularly I read that the shackles did not fit tight in the hangers and needed to be knurled to fit snugly.

Who would you guys suggest buying parts from? Eventually I will be looking at getting patch panels and other body stuff (window trim etc) and don't want bad fitting stuff I will have to fight with.

Classic Parts is who I typically use but some parts are cheaper elsewhere.
Price your parts are different ones and see what the total with shipping will be. The parts will work fine no matter where you buy them as long as it is an established vendor.

I ordered from Brothers once.... ONCE.
From what everybody tells me it's not their fault, but I guess the shipping rates from West (they're in California) to East are about twice as much as East to West. Go figure. It was my fault too. I should have double checked the shipping before I clicked "checkout."

I've used BowTie Bits (www.bowtiebits.com) and Tuckers (www.tuckersparts.com) and had no problems with either. Bowtie Bits is in Kansas, and Tuckers is in Vegas, so shipping to the East Coast would probably be about the same.

Re: Which Parts Vendor to Buy Parts From?

Hi or G'Day from down under (australia) I have bought items from both Classic Parts and Brothers. Both have been pretty good even freight charges to Australia seems pretty fair to me. Classic Parts were a little slow on my first order.( Cab-Corner Patch Panels )
A few e-mails later it was found to be still sitting in the warehouse, then they hit me with $23.00 due to the carton size. Well what can you do but pay. I eventually received my order. BIG BOX I repack the panels in the same carton and they could have used one half the size. Thats my only gripe. I have ordered more from them and all going well.

Re: Which Parts Vendor to Buy Parts From?

Just requested a Classic Industries catalog.

I have found that LMC's catalog does a very good job of showing all the parts breakdowns where as Brothers does not and is just full of pretty color pictures, but doesn't necessarily point out what parts are for what truck.
