Re: Where's the 3/4 ton love?

Thanks for posting gpk1961, a very nice representation for an under represented vehicle. I appreciate you keeping the stock theme, duplicating the appearance of the '61 hubcap design on a later model hubcap with newer bump type wheels. A little white and red paint goes a long way, 98% of the public would think they are period correct.

Re: Where's the 3/4 ton love?

Thanks - the hubcap fix was an inexpensive way to get the look! The truck is my first time to get this far....amateur restoration, but almost everything rebuilt or replaced. It is fun to drive and reminds me of my Grandfather. I learned to drive on his 61' a long time ago!

Re: Where's the 3/4 ton love?

A few more of my favorite C20s - I didn't see them earlier in the thread (hope they aren't re-posts). Pretty sure they've been scattered throughout the board though over the past few years in other threads. Anyway - really like these (the first one was sold with the original split rims in the back..)

Re: Where's the 3/4 ton love?

Ok,

Here is a pic of a 3/4 ton GMC I drug home today. I will post another pic of the one I took to my property yesterday. It was a "take em both deal". So, I took em.

Re: Where's the 3/4 ton love?

Here's the second one I took to my property. It has a wonderful can and bed, and a really cool custom bumper.

Re: Where's the 3/4 ton love?

Here is a few more pics of the long bed 3/4 ton step side I hauled to my property yesterday. It is actually in pretty good shape, hardly any rust at all, and a really cool homemade rear bumper that somebody put in quite a bit of time and effort to make and install.

Yep, X2. Those clean '60-'66 3/4 tons have that special look that I can never get enough of. Where do all these ebay trucks go to after the sale? I haven't seen the new owners show them off on this site. Here is a '66 Cust Camper truck I remember Sodly asked about, I don't know who owns it, but here is a little something. How many people go this power train route on a 3/4 ton? 262 is a typo, must have a 292.

I did finally track down the owner of that saddle Custom Camper awhile back. Neat truck with original paint but the engine has been out, repainted and modified with triple carbs and a couple other things. Looks very stock from the outside, though. The owner isn't on this board as far as I can tell.

I've never saw this thread before. Here's out '66 GMC 3/4t Custom Cab. 64k miles.

16" split rims, previous owner put new tires on a few years ago, but I've got a tire shop that also does commercial that works on split rims

Re: Where's the 3/4 ton love?

Does anyone know what ever happened to this beauty? It was listed on ebay about a year and a half ago with a 9K starting bid and 15K BIN - and had no bids. Then it disappeared. Member? Should be! BEAUTIFUL truck in one of my favorite factory colors.

Nice looking original truck. Would like to see more of it. I dig the splits! Ever try to polish it out?

Re: Where's the 3/4 ton love?

Love me some 3/4 ton GMC. Great truck and makes a great daily driver. I can go get groceries but I can also haul and tow whenever I want. Something ya can't do as well with a 1/2 ton. I do think it a darn shame many 3/4 tons are getting cut down and lowered and made into half tons.

1964 GMC 1500 with a 305E/SM420. She's pretty stock minus a few things.

Future plans are a dually conversion, molding stepside fenders to the bed to make a factory looking dually, one ton suspension, 478 V6 and an SM465 with a road ranger od conversion.

Sodly, I thought I had posted more about it, but I guess it is on the 6066GMC site. I can give links threads on that site, if allowed.

Here are two links on this site.

Pictures and conversation about special paint on "Rarest factory pain combos" starting at #96.
http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...=613738&page=4

I thread I started about the original firewall markings.
http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=720477

We have not done anything to the paint (or the truck yet) Trying to figure out what we want to do. My wife has claimed the truck as hers! The bottom half has be brush painted by the PO wife in non-matching color. I would love to preserve the original paint/patina, if I could get the "brush" paint off.

I will start a thread about the truck on this site. I have quit a bit of history on it. I don't want to clutter this wonderful thread about 3/4 tons.

A couple of more pictures, all 3/4 ton GMC's!

I agree, odd choice. No offense to the 6 folk, but my dream 66 has a 327. But of course I could live with a 283 I really like that truck you posted and sodly asked about - one of my favorites also.

Re: Where's the 3/4 ton love?

66 long fleet c20 I picked up this last spring. Truck worked for the city of Phoenix Arizona before it ended up in Idaho working for the power company. Finally retired to a farm about 10 miles over. Found all the original paperwork and receipts inside. After a new windshield, water pump, starter solenoid, and aquick carb rebuild it became the weekend work truck. Original 292, granny 4, and an odd man out Eaton rear with the 5:14 ratio. Had to piss off the yocals with the window sticker, it's what I do.
