Paint in bed liner
Ok so I'm wanting to do a bed liner I paint in myself like a rhino coat(I know that is sprayed in) anyone done this them self? Any tips for the prep? any certain brands to go with/stay away from?
p.s. I'm wanting to do the paint/roll in type cuz I don't have all the equipment to spray.

I used plkastikote on dad's 84, and it flaked off in several areas. It faded too but it was cheap and old. Tips I can think of it tape off any area you don't want it on, sand it with 220 or rougher grit, wipe it all down with grease and wax remover then go to town on it. They say first coat thin every streaky, 2nd coat fat and heavy to cover and get the mil thickness where it needs to be.
I want one myself for my 88 but don't want a chunky one, hate the chunks in it. Some say it's the textured roller but it's not ours had actual chunks in the paint and we used a house roller for house paint it was smooth. I'm thinking of just using a paint styrainer and filter it out. My old man argues that the chunks help hold stuf in place in the bed and slip resistance, which I bet they do help alot, I just don't like the look lol.

I used the Herculiner brand on a 1998 S-10 I used to have. It went on fairly easy, but like it was said before, the look is pretty rough. I didn't care for the chunky look either, although absolutely nothing slid on it. It seemed to hold up for the 2 years I had the truck, I never had to patch it. But I also used the entire first gallon, and then laid down another quart on the bed floor to get some more thickness.

If you can find someone with a halfway decent air compressor that'll let you use it for an hour, it's all you need to spray a liner in. It's soooo much easier/faster and you end up with a better looking liner. I got my bed liner kit from Southern Polyurethanes for $140 and then bought the $40 gun to spray it, so $180 total. It looks as good or better than any $500 line-x job I've ever seen.
