Re: 6.2 Diesle

If your truck and the donor truck are close to the same age it shouldn't be to bad . You will need all the wiring system for the glow plugs ,radiator ,starter, set up for duel batteries. It would be good if you could get the whole truck and return what is not needed. I have went from 6.2 to a 350 years ago but not the other way.

Re: 6.2 Diesle

6.2 is in the jyard because it's broke. Leave it there.

If you really want to do the swap, it depends on what you want factory and what you want to work. Best bet is to get the WHOLE TRUCK because a lot of the parts are unique.
1. Tanks MUST have a return line. You'll need to purge your tank of all gas and make sure all lines are clean.
2. Motor mounts are different.
3. Diesels make almost no vaccuum. Therefore they hae a vacuum pump that is used to provide vacuum for heater doors, trans, etc. This will not safely run a brake booster so diesels use hydro boost brakes which requires a different power steering pump reservoir, and brake booster set up.
4. Trans control is different. TH400 uses a vacuum controller on the injection pump, TH700R4 uses a throttle position switch on the IP plus a TV cable with a diesel unique rod. TH350 was never offered.
5. If you live in a warm climate or tow you'll need a BIG radiator or a lot of fans. The diesel shrouds are different.
6. 2 big batteries required (900CCA's min) and high output alternator (like 135A min).
7. Fuel filter - probably has the firewall mounted box. You'll need it.
8. All brackets, accesories, etc are unique to the 6.2.
9. Dashes and underdash wiring are diesel unique although you could just bypass some of that.
10. Glow plug control, either facotry or a Ferd startr relay and a button.

That's what comes to the top of my head....
