V8 350 small block experts Help

The 350 came with my 65 C10 so I did not put it together. I pulled the plugs and spun the motor over and got water out of #8 cylinder. So I'm thinking blown head gasket even though the PO said it was running fine and only had 5,000 miles on a rebuild. I pulled the intake and this is what I found.

It appears that the water came in through the carb and sat on top of the intake valve until I spun the motor over. However I noticed that the water jacket port was blocked off and the intake manifold, an Edelbrock 2101, did not have a matching port is this normal? Question 2, the small fitting on the right, is this the connection for the oil pressure gauge?

Thanks

2) is the oil pressure
on smblk only on the front on the intake water flows the back does not.
did you do a compression test before you pulled the intake to make sure the head gasket was ok ?

Looking at your picture, it is possible that coolant passed by the intake gasket at the rear coolant port and migrated along the head until it got to the #8 intake port. The silicone at the bottom of the head under the coolant port probably prevented the coolant from getting into the lifter valley.

I agree w/Greg63. The intake on 8 there looks a little orange/crusty.

Wow, someone got a bit carried away with the high temp silicone. That's completely unnecessary. Well hopefully you are correct in the sequence of events. Hopefully the water didn't make it into the cylinder and sit there for a while. If it just sat in the intake port and rusted away, then you may have to pull that head and have it rebuilt to restore the seal of that intake valve. But if you're pulling one head, you may as well pull the other and have it freshened up too. That's a shame someone let that happen. That looks like a fairly clean engine.
