I set my vent line up with a fuel filter on the end of it and then positioned it up under the front fender. It vents and the filter keeps water and dirt out of the tanks. I removed mine years ago and the only thing that I have noted, is that sometimes there might be a little of a bit of pressure on the tank when I uncap it to fill it.
