A crack?

It's kinda hard to see, but does this look like a crak or just where water sat? Thanks

Looks like rust on cylinder wall to me. Do you know the history on the motor? Aka did truck set for a long time, like years and then get put back into service? The way the cylinder wall looks, it looks like motor sat and got surface rust that stained the cylinder.

Like you said, It's hard to tell from the pic. But I'd be worried about a stuck ring too with those end gap marks....

Very true. I didnt notice that. If it had water setting in the cylinder for any decent amount of which would make sense with the rust, you probably have stuck ring. Tore down a motor once that had water in it and the rings were stuck so bad we couldnt even get them out. Machine shop had to hot tank the pistons to free em up.

Well, if I can get my friend to bring over his cherry picker, I will be pulling the engine this weekend. Then I will get it tanked,rings and bearings and oil pump.
