Unhappy Cowl Cleaning!

I cleaned out my cowl area of the leaves and dirt. Huge pile!!! Put in some guard screens. Tried to clean out the drain holes in the cowl. Water started leaking inside the cab from under the dash somewhere. I tried to clean inside the vents inside and couldn't even get my hands inside the hole. I am assuming you have to remove the little doggie door. Anyway It was cool to be able to do something but turned out in a bad way with the leaking.

Did you try straightening out a wire clothes hanger and running it down at the outer edges of the cowl - and up from underneath - to clean out the clog? Maybe do this while running water in from the top - if the flooding isn't too bad!

Are you sure the water came from up behind the dash or could it have come from the vents? If the drain holes in the cowl are clogged then the water might come out of the vents.

I wish I knew. This is the first time I have cleaned drain holes and am still looking for directions on how to do them all. The water was running from behind the dash and down the floorboards. I am going to try the coat hanger and try again. I am hoping like you said it is from the vents.

Don't forget to do the doors (2 drains per door) and the front fenders (front and rear) and the bed (holes at the front corners)

Lack of proper cleaning is why everyone needs a new cab. If you just rinse the whole truck out a couple times a year it will stop this stuff from happening. This goes for new vehicles too.

is it leaking in on the driver side or passenger side ...if its the passenger side .... check the seal at the base of your antenna ...mine was cracked and let water right down the kick panel and onto the carpet
