lowering rear end question

Hello,

I have done a spring over drop on my 69 gmc long bed over a year ago and i had a bad clunk when i would go from reverse to drive. After I jacked up the truck i noticed that the pinion was moving around in the housing. The rear end was not leaking and there was no metal bearing material in the gear oil. I was think about putting a new crush sleeve, input seal, and pinion nut on. I am thinking that this happened because of the new angle out the pinion after the drop. I am also running a drop carrier bearing too and my u joint angles are well with in spec of what I have read online. Have any one have had the same type of problem after they dropped there truck.

only time i've seen that pinion problem was due to improper installation techique of the pinion// it needs a bunch of torque for the proper preload// alot of doityerselfers dont get the torque and preload right

I'd bet the old pinion nut just backed off. They are supposed to be self locking, but if it's ever been removed a time or two it's probably not holding much tension anymore.
