what do i need for hardware to tie down the topper

hello again folks. trying to figure out what i need for hardware to attach the topper to my 69 blazer. my friend took it off and lost everything except the 2 bolts that go into the windshield frame.

Thanks!

wow, not a cool friend, i'm sure he didn't lose them on purpose but he sure made things hard for you. I'm sure someone here will be able to help. if it will help ease the pain i had the original blue seat belts for my blazer in a box and the box got thrown out.

Re: what do i need for hardware to tie down the topper

yea, technically it was his blazer at the time. he just got in a hurry to pull the top off for my batchelor party and through the hardware on a messy bench instead of waiting for me to get back with a ziplock bag. there's so much straw/grass from birds and miscellaneous tools/bolts on the bench that i will be better off just buying new bolts and clear the bench when its not -20 after the windchill. any chance you could pull one of the bolts out of your top and get me measurements?

I'm sorry, i thought you needed brackets, the sunvisor bolt is 5/16 thread, 2 3/8" long, 1/2" head. I used 1/2" long for the two brackets between the sunvisors, 3/4" for the bed rails, all 5/16 thread. i have single wall top, not sure if double wall is different. the bolts for the back hold downs should be the same.

should there be a bracket or washer on the underside of the bed to keep the bolt from pulling through? also i know it's a basic questions but how do you tell a single wall from double?

Single wall top - The bolts in the rear area go from the top side (through top and thread into the bed rail).

Double wall top - The bolts in the rear area go from bottom to top (through bed rail and thread into the top).

Also, for a single wall top here is your bolt dimensions.

Windshield bracket screws - 5/16-18 phillips head screw and is 5/8" long.
Bed rail bolts - 3/8-16 hex head bolt/washer and is 7/8" long.
Visor bolts - 5/16-18 hex head bolt and is 2 3/8" long.

Re: what do i need for hardware to tie down the topper

gotcha i've got a double wall (in from the bottom) so at least maybe that will be worth something when i part the blazer out to make the 68 c20 4x4, don't worry if you saw pictures you'd know why i'm comfortable doing that. i just wanna keep it roadworthy until the day comes.

so as far as the bed rail bolts it's nothing small as far as a washer?

The original bolts had thick built in washers, just put a good sized washer on your bolt and you'll be good to go.
