Paint Bubbles... - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

Well when I bought my truck, in the lower front door panel there were 2 paint bubbles and I now have noticed the last time I washed the truck that it is starting to ooze rusty colored liquid.

How do I repair or put a temp fix on this? I want to do sumthin before it possbily rots out the bottom of the door. I'm not ready to paint the truck, but that could possbily happen this winter...

Any help would be great

The first thing you should do is check your drain holes in your doors. Clean 'em out real well, remove the door panel if you have to and shop vac out all the crap. While you're in there, look around for any signs of body work or rust from the inside.
If it was me, I'd think about cutting itty bitty holes in the bottoms of the bubbles to let any water out that may have gotten in there.

i had bubbles in my tool box door. i started to scrape them a bit.....long story short.. the whole bottom of the door was full of rust. im repainting the door now... bubbles= not good.

If there is a bubble...there is rust underneath. Scrape it off and sand it all down. Once you fix the door drains you will have to take it to bare metal, prime and paint. If it is a small spot you can do a decent repair, feather and buff. When you get around to doing your entire truck it will not have gotten any worse. If you wait until you are going to repaint you might have to reskin the door or even get a new one if the bottom is rusted out.

Even if you shake and spray it...it will be better than letting it go and get worse.

Couldn't have said it better myself. Where there are bubbles, there is rust. The sooner you do something with it (if it's not too late already) the better off you'll be. I'm doing some rust repair on a car right now. Everywhere there were even little bubbles under the paint that hadn't come through yet, when I sanded the paint off (and the rust) there was nothing but hole when I was finished.
