Mirrors or no Mirrors

I'm putting one piece windows in my truck...I want to now whether you think I should keep the mirrors where they are, move the mirrors forward to show off the one piece windows some more, or get rid of the mirrors totally...If I keep the mirrors, I'm gonna stay with the dumbo mirrors...I don't think the sport mirrors look good on these trucks at all so I won't be putting those on here...

Also, this truck is going to be my demo vehicle for my new interior business that I'll be opening soon...I have big custom plans for this truck...it'll have all the factory trim, a 73-74 front end, I'll be keeping the door handles, and Porterbuilt gear up front and out back...I want the truck to look factory on the outside with subtle touches and have a kickass interior...

thanks for the suggestions fellas...

Chuck.

Re: Mirrors or no Mirrors

If you keep them leave them where they are. I would keep them, I think they look good on these trucks.

Re: Mirrors or no Mirrors

I like where they are mounted. I have not seen anyone move their mirror forward at all, but it might look good with the one piece window.

Re: Mirrors or no Mirrors

It would probably make the door look longer, maybe try and bolt them on in the front hole and then photoshop out the mounting holes ?

No mirrors, especially with 1 piece glass.

73/74's didn't have dumbos either, they would look totally out of place IMO on the truck.

Re: Mirrors or no Mirrors

This will give you an idea on how it will look with no mirrors and one piece windows (it is my truck, and what I will be running). I kept the door handles, but shaved the locks. Similar look for what you are going after,

Re: Mirrors or no Mirrors

Thanks Jeff. You are the man. I totally forgot that you shaved the mirrors but kept the handles and had the one piece windows. I'm pretty sure I just made up my mind. That looks spot on right there. Thanks

Re: Mirrors or no Mirrors

How much would you want for the mirrors? Haha. What color are you planning on for the exterior? It definitely won't look right with the dumbo mirrors if you were to run mirrors

Re: Mirrors or no Mirrors

When I decide to sell them I'll be sure to put you at the top of the list. They are in great condition. I'm painting it the factory blue and white, but not the blue that's on it now. It'll be the light blue from 1973.

What mirrors did they use in 73/74?

Re: Mirrors or no Mirrors

Power mirrors from an 89-91 Silverado packaged BLAZER,BURB or CREW CAB and mount them as far forward as possible.

Re: Mirrors or no Mirrors

I'm trying to go as old school with the body of the truck as possible. So no power mirrors. I actually just sold a set the were in great shape. I'm gonna take the mirrors off.

The front end is the factory frontend off my 84. As far as I can remember there's nothing wrong with the grill or headlight buckets. I think all the chrome and tabs are still there. I may throw it up on the wall of my new shop. If I don't keep it, I'll be sure to give you first dibs when I post it for sale.

This is not a For Sale thread. Don't make it one and get it locked.

I agree. The round sport mirrors will accent the proposed round headlights.

Re: Mirrors or no Mirrors

It would LOOK better with with the one piece glass with no mirrors at all, but I hate driving something with no mirrors, or the little useless mirrors.
