Help understand wiring....

Need help understanding how to wire up one of these motors....I purchased a painless kit (#10206: 18 Circuit GM Truck Chassis Wiring Harness 1967 - 1972) for my previous project but never used it...I have the engine from a 2006 truck. It came with the motor wiring harness. My question is, how does the harness from the engine connect to the painless one? Can i even use this painless kit? Is there another painless harness that joins to kit 10206? I'm a little confused. Thanks for any clarification...

Re: Help understand wiring....

I think i found my answer on the painless site. It seem like the harness #60221 would be the one for the motor. I just don't see how it connects with the truck harness at the firewall.

Re: Help understand wiring....

1st. Have you had the 2006 harness modded for use as a stand alone?

2nd. Just install the painless harness for the truck.

3rd. when the 06 harness is modded, you will only need 1 ignition hot and 1 battery hot, along with brake/fuel/speedo wires.

Re: Help understand wiring....

I have not done anything to the 2006 harness yet. I will look into modifying it myself.

Re: Help understand wiring....

You can have your harness moded by someone else if you choose, PM me and I will give you some names if your interested. also those will do a re-flash of your PCM too. Sometimes it is more cost efficient to purchase an aftermarket harness and have someone performance tune the PCM instead of paying for someone to mod the stock harness ( it wont look real pretty) and just take VATS off and eliminate the emissions need.

Re: Help understand wiring....

I just bought a 6.0 and 4l80E with the harness and somehow got put in touch with a guy here in the fort worth area who makes harnesses for this application. I went to look at some of his work today and it is first class. Oh, and did I mention that it was a lot cheaper than the painless kit ?
