need drum brake help

hey all i need help with my drums this is my first drum rebuild and ive run into two snags.
first im having a huge problem installing the parking brake strut spring. ive been trying off and on for two days with no luck. and today using a brake spring installer it slid off the spring and about got me in the eye luckily my nose was in the way to take the blunt of it lol.
lastly what is the correct size bolt for the wheel clyinder i bought new ones but the old bolts snapped off.
thanks for any help
the trucks a 85 gmc k1500 4x4 and has a 10bolt rear

yeah i did i clamped down the parking brake and reinstalled the spring it was a real pain. i took the new wheel cylinder to napa and got all new bolts. After that drums were easy brakes work great now. Now i need to get new shocks and 2 1/2 inch exhaust, interior, paint, figure out how to increase mileage on this gas guzzler.... so much to do in my 2 year time limit
