My 64 C-10 fleetside shortbed build
Im going to start posting some pics of my truck from the time I got it until now. I bought this truck a about 2 years ago and have been working on it when I have the time. Yes it was a longbed truck but not for long. I got this thing for 300 dollars running with the straight 6 and 3 on the tree.

Re: My 64 C-10 fleetside shortbed build
Looks like a good project. Hope you think about leaving the 6 cylinder in , they are a sweet motor and a little different from everybody that has a small block..
It is good you like Chevelles , Mine Is a 69 Convertible...

Re: My 64 C-10 fleetside shortbed build
Really nice truck Kabwe!! I love those style trucks and I will have one some day. I have been in the shop all day welding in floor plans just like structures. And I agree its more of a job than it looks. I will post some more recent pics when I can take some. I have already took the straight 6 out and trashed the front fenders, the doors and the hood. I took the cab off the frame and decided to find a shortbed frame. I found a good front fender and patched the bottom of it.

Re: My 64 C-10 fleetside shortbed build
Here is the shortbed frame I bought for 50 dollars. Also got a few pics of the 350 when i was building it. Im putting the motor back almost like it would have been from the factory with a few upgrades. Im getting a late start on this build thread, I have been working on this truck in my spare time over the past 2 years.

Re: My 64 C-10 fleetside shortbed build
Here are some pics to were im at now. I fitted the floor support, floor plan and rocker on and then put the fender and door on to see if everything was lining up. everything looks good as long as it doesnt move when I weld it in. Also in the pic you can see the doors I found on craigslist for 200 dollars in very very good shape needing very little work.

Re: My 64 C-10 fleetside shortbed build
I put a want ad on craigslist right before christmas looking for a shortbed for my truck and the next day someone emailed me about this one. I went and got it the same day, it was only an hour from my house. It seems to be in pretty good shape considering I have been looking for one for over a year now.

Nice progress!! I wished that style of inner rocker was available when I did mine. Looks like it's coming along well.

Re: My 64 C-10 fleetside shortbed build
Hey guys, I bought a long bed for my truck before I changed my mind and decided to make mine into a shortbed. I have to tear that bed down to get the bottom supports or cross braces out of it for my shortbed and may also use one or both of the fenders. If anyones in my area and need some long bed sides I will sell these very cheap. They are in pretty good shape, will need some work around the bottom of the tail lights and the about 5 coats of paint blasted off but the inside lips are good and no dents anywhere. Also there is my hood I bought off craigslist last summer to replace my rusted one.

Re: My 64 C-10 fleetside shortbed build
I wanted to see what this color would look like on the truck so I painted the fender extension. Its a metallic wine red from the mid 90s. I picked it out of the book at the local carquest and he gave me a sample of the base coat and then I cleared it. Im thinking of a similar color to this and a white top on the truck. Heres some pics of my home made sandblast cabinet thought you guys might want to see. I have like 40 dollars or less in it. Also added in a pic of the set of doors that i found. i couldnt beleive how good of shape they were in. Most stuff you find around here is eat up with rust and people asking way too much.

Re: My 64 C-10 fleetside shortbed build
I got that inner rocker panel from the oldie goldie shop here in elm city NC. the outer rocker I also got from them but I bought the pass side rocker from a dealer at the charlotte auto fest and I havent started on that side yet. The driver side one fits pretty good. I had to weld up and move the holes where the cab support bolts to the inner rocker, holes where drilled way off. The outer rocker fits really good, had to squeeze it togather some to make it mate to the inner rocker at the bottom but it all worked out.

Re: My 64 C-10 fleetside shortbed build
I got my inner rocker panel and floor welded in over the past few days and got it primmed. I need to go pick up some seam sealer. I did get some 3M body filler to try. I was surprized when I opened the can and saw it was yellow. I was expecting it to be white but what ever. It seems to be a lot smoother than the other stuff with pin holes.

Hey guys, I had a late night in the shop saturday night. I got my pass side cab support cut out and the rocker panel off. check out the professional rocker panel removal, haha yeah right, at least I got it off with out messing the cab up so im happy. I stuck the new one on to see how it fit and it looked like a perfect fit to me.

Re: My 64 C-10 fleetside shortbed build
check out this mess I have to try to repair. Its the pass side rear cab support and the floor. I already bought the rear cab support and these things dont even come close to fiting. I was told it was the factory style but it looks like the slip on fit ones. Even so it still does not fit right. I may take some thick sheetmetal and box it in and weld it togather and make it look better than the junk I bought. Any guys have any pics of your repair on this or any advice, i think I need to flip the cab on its back to access this issue better.

Wow I can't believe I didn't realize you're not to far away from me. I've looked at your build thread a bunch of times now too because I've got to do the exact same rust repairs.

Hey k1rodeoboater, did you get the doors you said you were getting? You got me wondering now if my old 69 chevelle gas tank will fit under my 64 C10.
