Re: K5, new fuel pump, still won't start

Just stick with the basics and dont overthink what you have going on.

Did it run just fine before you put gas in it?

Did you mess with the distributor at all since it died? Moving it around?

Sounds like you got on it and that connector pulled loose and was making intermittant contact. If all you did was change your fuel pump and keep cranking on it, just throw some new plugs in it and dont mess with the timing at all.

Oh yeah and you may want to check our motor/tranny mounts. Your motor shouldnt be moving around enough to pull that connector loose.

I personally run only AC delco plugs in mine and have had great results. Dont waste your time on the autolite crap.

I agree with all this. An old mechanic friend of mine swore that once a plug got fouled/flooded it would never be right again. Just throw it away and get a new set of AC Delco and be done with it.

Did you get it running? Sounds like we're going to have lots of snow to play in.

Re: K5, new fuel pump, still won't start

it's all good in the hizzood now. that battery wire to the distributor was the culprit. thanks for all the advice, it led me to the solution.
