Rally & tire size for 2/4 drop recomendation

Thanks in advance, trying to figure out what tire size combo to run. I've been looking to upgrade wheels since 16. Never had the budget past a set of cheap barn finds. Now 26 I want to upgrade w/the vintage look of the corvette rally's and not a stager look.
Found 16 x 8 rallys on summit & 275/70/16 tires. Anyone running this combo w/ a 2/4 drop kit, pictures would be great. ( next tire size available would be 275/55/16).
Thanks.

275/70's would be a little tall in my opinion, if you could get a 275/60 that would be ideal.

Re: Rally & tire size for 2/4 drop recomendation

I agree with gonnuts, That 70 series is gona be a tall tire. Are you going the same size on all 4 corners? The 275/55/16 would probably look a little better. A 60 series would still be ideal.

Yes my goal was to use same tire on all 4. Currently I have some old 275/60/15 on all 4's and was looking for something alittle taller becuase I still have a 4-5 inch gap between the fender lips and the top of the wheels. THis is with a 2/4 drop. ?

Re: Rally & tire size for 2/4 drop recomendation

Is there any particular reason to go 16's? Why not go with 17's?

If your set on the 16's, I say go with a 255/70/16. It will be tall enough to fill the fenders, and still be wide enough to fill out and look good.

Re: Rally & tire size for 2/4 drop recomendation

I guess I was going to stay away from 17's becuase of cost and I can't seem to find the right style I like in a 6 Lug.
The only ones i've liked are these from summit, any comments on them? http://www.summitracing.com/parts/ALE-886-79060/

I would love those rims if it wasnt for the goofy simulated rivets on the lip.

Why not go with 17" rallies?

Re: Rally & tire size for 2/4 drop recomendation

I have 275\60's on all four and will be replacing the front with 235/70's because the 60' are like ski's in the wet weather, also they wear rather quickly it seems.

I agree with you, I actually saw a pair on the ride to the local speed shop last night. I guess I couldn't see that detail in the picture.
Ok...what to you think about the legend 6 wheels. I found them in this post by djmachinist
http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=388447

I really like them. I'm staying away from the 17" rallies becuase of cost, the rallies from wheel vintiques are $250 a wheel, my budget...."my wifes" budget is $200 per. These summit legend six wheels are $190 per. perfect. What do you think?

if you stick with 16's a 245-70-16 might be a good choice.

Re: Rally & tire size for 2/4 drop recomendation

my 69 swb was a drop spindle front with 2" blocks on the rear. Had a set of 15x8 wheels with 225/70r15 tires on it. That way I could rotate the tires for more even wear. The tires filled the wheel wells, and IMO it looked cool!

Re: Rally & tire size for 2/4 drop recomendation

275 60 15's out back, mounted on 15 x 8 rallies. 215 70 15's up front on 15 x 7 rallies.

I have a 5/6.5 drop...but they would still look good on a 2/4 drop IMO.

Re: Rally & tire size for 2/4 drop recomendation

mcmaster68, I personally think the best look with rallies would be to stay with 15's and go with 255/70/15 tires.
