My idea to recess a gauge in this space won't work it appears. Not enough room, but I had to see it for myself.

I agree with the storage tray space is a good idea to ponder as well since I have no a/c in the 1-ton.

Oh well, now I answered my own question and will probably just keep looking for a decent deal on a nice oem tach. Until then, I'll just drive with my ears open.

yea i ran out & put tape to mine & seen that it would look out of place..It would kind of look like a third eye..lol

Re: Tachometer , any cool ideas?

Couldnt sleep... so I played with my new gauges tonight.. This set came out alot better than the old ones. Waiting on the rest of my blue leds to arrive and find an air/fuel gauge to fit the extra slot and I'm done..

$20 white face gauges, $8 needle paint and $10 worth of leds

Re: Tachometer , any cool ideas?

OK so requested by JRANGER, here is how I did the tach in my blazer.

I bought the tach at Harbor Freight but I didn't like the white face so I proceeded to change it.

I started with dissembling it.

Then I painted the areas that would be seen once assembled black, and painted the needle with orange marking paint.

Then I drew a new face in MS Paint, and once I got it right I printed it out on photo paper.

I also cut out a new "sticker" out of some regular ole electrical tape because I didn't like the nitrous logo on it.

Then I cut out the housing with a Dremel to fit the tach.

And made some aluminum brackets to hold it in place.

Also cut out the black piece to fit. I guess I didn't take a picture but I just glued the lens and plastic ring in the housing without using the aluminum trim so that it would sit flush against the gauge bezel.

In place

Finally in the truck.

I couldn't find a picture of it at night with the lights on but it was bright with multiple colors to chose from with a press of the button, it would have matched good with leds in the other gauges.

Harbor freight has a 2 1/8 tac that you could put somewhere for $20. Damn nice looking seats...

Re: Tachometer , any cool ideas?

I was thinking of moving my fuel gauge for a tach but I dont want to change the look of the dash too much. I like the simple white facedgauge OEM look.I.m also stuck on the old skool look with the dash mounted tach

Looks good, what are you doing with the old radio? I love the interior of your truck btw, could be the best ever in these trucks.
