Re: 71 K5 Build
stick with the HEI, ask questions here and on the electrical section, and someone will be able to figure it out

Re: 71 K5 Build
If you are using the same yellow wire for positive as went to your coil, that is part of your problem. It is a resistance wire. You have to run a completely new IGN wire to the HEI for it to get enough voltage. Just run it from a key on hot wire. Not real sure how the Accel coil is wired, but for a GM HEI, the coil is powered from the dizzy.

Re: 71 K5 Build
I realized that my Accel Dizzy is missing the control module and the wiring harness that it plugs into :/
I didn't really know much about HEI Distributors when I bought it... I guess I learn some things the hard way. Not sure if I should go to pull apart and get the parts I need to fix it??? I'm startin' to think I'd rather just get a new MSD HEI distributor. After going through my carb half a dozen times and removing and reinstalling the Accel dizzy numerous times I'm thinkin' I should stop buyin' used car parts on craigslist :P it's a real PITA sometimes :/ not really worth the money I save.
